The OPPO A series ranges from Rs 15,000 to 20,000 in the lower midrange market alongside the OPPO Reno series that focuses on the upper midrange market. The OPPO A52 is the newest product in the A series, along with the OPPO A12, which is priced at Rs 16,999. It has four cameras and a larger battery. Let’s take a look at our OPPO A52 review.
Design
OPPO A52 has a 3D quadruple curved design. The back offers a stylish 3D texture in a glossy plastic body. It is offered in two colors, black and white. The design is quite smooth, the curves make it easy to hold the phone.
On the front, you see a punch-hole camera design that gives the phone a 90.50% screen-to-body ratio. It has a 6.5 inch TFT LCD with Full HD+ resolution (2400 x 1080 pixels). The back of the phone provides a four-camera setup with a single LED flash, while the fingerprint scanner is located on the right side with the power button placed, not on the back. Fingerprint scanner works fast, takes fingerprints quickly.
Software and User Interface
Like all OPPO phones, the A52 uses a ColorOS user interface on top but uses a newer version. OPPO A52 runs on the latest ColorOS 7 based on Android 10 with a security patch dated May 5, 2020.
Camera
The four-camera OPPO A52, which initially seemed to be the main highlight of the phone, has a quad-camera setup at the rear. While most smartphones in this range are equipped with a 48 MP or 64 MP main camera, the OPPO A52 comes with a standard 12 MP f / 1.7 main camera with the remaining three cameras, 8 MP f / 2.2 wide-angle, 2 MP f / 2.4 and macro. 2 MP f / 2.4 depth sensor.
When we look at the cameras, the camera configuration is quite common. Before the smartphone industry switched to 48 MP sensors, 12 MP sensors were popular when we saw smartphones with 12 MP cameras. You may not see a 12 MP camera in 2020, OPPO chooses not to stick with the current 48 MP or 64 MP trend. On the other hand, there is a 16 MP selfie camera with a punch-hole design.
